Our Story

The brand began as an embodiment of Yvette “La Brujita” Montoya’s personal healer’s journey — a first‑generation Chicana of Mexican and Chilean descent who grew up experimenting with herbs and spiritual practices, ultimately embracing her calling in brujería (traditional Latin American spiritual practice). Though brujería has long been stigmatized, Yvette’s path reflects a reclamation of cultural spiritual heritage and ancestral wisdom as tools for healing in a modern world.

During the pandemic, Yvette’s practice took shape as a full‑fledged business after she began making and sharing spiritual sprays, limpias (energetic cleanses), and readings with friends and community members — particularly caregivers, organizers, and people navigating stress and grief. What started informally grew organically into The Bratty Brujita Botanica in 2021 and the Apothecary arm was founded in 2025.

At the heart of the brand is the conviction that healing is an act of resistance— particularly for BIPOC communities who have endured spiritual erasure, religious trauma, and cultural disconnection. The products and services are designed to reconnect individuals with their bodies, ancestors, and inner agency.
